DISTRIBUTED.....

Just some imagery that gets me inspired to how many divers things can be considered as distributed.....

Im not even too sure what this is but I like it alot

tangible InfraSTRUCTURE

ROAD NETWORKS

I really like the overlapping layers, shadows and the light in these image. The concrete structures look so effortlessly intertwined.
It is interesting to think about whom is going to access these layers, where do these layers end up, and by what means are they accessed?

RAIL NETWORKS

Some of the rail systems around the world I have been lucky enough to have had the experience to travel on. The London Tube, Paris Metro and the New York Metro.
Overall the London Tube system was the most efficient interacting and connecting with the bus system for more resourceful travel around the urban environment.

INtangible InfraSTRUCTURE

We commonly consider infrastructure to be those tangible fixed structures that facilitate the operation of our society. The bundles of cables and wires, metro systems, concrete highways and the grids that they run off.
But here I begin to look and and consider the intangible infrastructure... those we can not visibly see, touch or even comprehend.....
Data Networks
Visible in some components wireless, wired, fiber-optics and satellites. With the growth in miniaturization and convergence technologies the greater public and the Government rely heavily on this infrastructure for society to function. The structure of technological convergence Sensing, Network, Interface, Processing and Security.

Political
This concept analysis is extremely interesting when thinking about the nomadic politician. It looks into the analysis and identification of the strength of geopolitical relationships among countries around the globe. The analysis used a unique set of data extracted using their News Analytics API — 7,000 trips to foreign countries by 1,000 prominent politicians, generals and business people.

Stem Cells
Extremely fascinating visually. A microscopic look at a human embryonic stem cells. The potential distribution techniques of proteins and information work incredibly efficiently.

Security and Defence
Australian National Security Service exclusively provide professional level services to major Australian corporations, companies, the Australian Federal and State Government and international Government Dignitaries and Diplomats delivering "unsurpassed" premium level security services.

Sketches

Our Brainstorming kept coming back to the same thing, that  to make anything change within the Federal Parliament we need to start by first making the politicians more accountable for there actions and policy making.

Looking at digital network distribution to different areas throughout Australia.

By making the area Pedestrian only the chance of running into a politician is increased dramatically.

future POSSIBILITIES

When thinking about today's contemporary society I think about the use of communication tools, I think about how we live our daily lives buzzing to and from work in our cars single occupancy sitting in air conditioned boxes.......

With the current realization of climate change and its consequences eg, sea level rise and increasing daily temperature, Canberra could be a much more desirable and livable city in comparison to the high density coastal cities in Australia. Like Robert Graves and Didier Madoc-Jones perception of London in the "Post Cards From the Future" project shown below f the sea levels rose and broke The Tames Walls.

Our Strategy looks at making the Capital City Area more pedestrian friendly encouraging the public within the central radius to interact with one another to create a more community friendly urban precinct and a space that the chance of running into a politician is increased.

This idea of climate change and forcing mass migration to inner urban centres would be just what Canberra requires population to truly utilise the tree city plan. As described by Tone Wheeler in Architecture Review vol. 116, that the existing Y plan is an appropriate base for a city of 4 million not 400,000 which it currently accommodates. he also states that the city has an appalling public transport system as it has been zoned to prevent integration from the beginning.

infraSTRUCTURE reconsidered.....

Looking at the idea of infrastructure that supports the Capital City and the problems associated with getting to Parliament House from various parts of Australia we took to considering the ideas of making such structures Mobile, Flexible, Distributed or even Virtual.

This are some ideas that were discussed with regards to the issue of Canberra as the Capital City being so isolated from the greater Australia.  Looking at high speed pipeline travel, cardboard structures, creating a canal to ship larger structures around Australia.

ARCHItecture

Some innovative sketches from Cedric Price.
Through looking into the smaller components of distribution and the possibilities i continually kept coming up with Cedric Price.

An Experiment in Freedom 1969.
Thought evoking considering how a structural piece could become portable, distributed and moveable in the 1960's.
Interesting looking at the Finite and the infinite localities and further more the sequence of distribution.

Drawing for Cities on the Move project

This axonometric drawing of an Avery is interesting to see the distribution and almost connection infrastructure. It could be used as either a large space or indeed a very tiny one. No matter what the size it would still be intriguing and structurally assembled and disassembled.

DISTRIBUTE concept

The sketch bellow looks at the different scales of distribution. Human-scale footprints, existing and proposed architectural forms and the larger infrastructure networks.

This diagram highlights the need for Canberra’s suburbia to infiltrate the Parliamentary Circle to activate the area and reclaim public utilisation of the urban space.

infraSTRUCTURE

This week we were asked to look more into the Supporting Structures for Parliamentary Services to run efficiently. We begun by looking at the existing infrastructure that supports the system below.

Transport Infrastructure

Train lines      Shipping Ports     Loading      Cranes       Road Systems      Airports

Telecommunications Structure

Digital Network   Wireless Network    Mapping Network    Viral Communications

Organizational Structure

VIRTual

STUDIO WORKshop what do you think about the idea of Virtual?

Sound space at TAT (Theater am Turm). Is a Virtual cage, that is fully interactive, both physically and mentally by most advance technology. It creates a virtual sensor of a human dynamic and produce an illusion of a swamp surface with lighting, sounds and movement.

FLEXible

STUDIO WORKshop what do you think about the idea of flexibility?

I think this image is interesting in creating flexible structures from various types of materials with the expertise of computer aided design programs.

DIStributed

STUDIO WORKshop what do you think about the idea of something that is  distributed?

This image could be a representative of various distribution types. It could be various objects, various sources of information, or even different collaborative approaches that are paramount in the future.

Architectural Design o8

This is a virtual space that will take you along the road I travel daily in my fourth year of an Architecture Degree at QUT. Not much has been given by way of a project brief however 2 intriguing questions have been asked of us:

Q. What can an Agent of Australian Capital be?

and

Q. What do you think architecture benefits Australia?

I aim at answering these questions over the next 15 weeks with research, examplar studies, iterative sketches in the hope that I can create an innovative and functional design.

4 KEY WORDS to inspire, intrigue, discuss and ponder in the second week of semester...........

Mobile
Distributed
Flexible
Virtual
