future POSSIBILITIES

When thinking about today's contemporary society I think about the use of communication tools, I think about how we live our daily lives buzzing to and from work in our cars single occupancy sitting in air conditioned boxes.......

With the current realization of climate change and its consequences eg, sea level rise and increasing daily temperature, Canberra could be a much more desirable and livable city in comparison to the high density coastal cities in Australia. Like Robert Graves and Didier Madoc-Jones perception of London in the "Post Cards From the Future" project shown below f the sea levels rose and broke The Tames Walls.

Our Strategy looks at making the Capital City Area more pedestrian friendly encouraging the public within the central radius to interact with one another to create a more community friendly urban precinct and a space that the chance of running into a politician is increased.

This idea of climate change and forcing mass migration to inner urban centres would be just what Canberra requires population to truly utilise the tree city plan. As described by Tone Wheeler in Architecture Review vol. 116, that the existing Y plan is an appropriate base for a city of 4 million not 400,000 which it currently accommodates. he also states that the city has an appalling public transport system as it has been zoned to prevent integration from the beginning.
